I did everything wrong here in terms of how to take a before & after shot. When I bought my microneedling equipment, I took a few courses and was ready to take on a few “practice” patients, but figured I should start on myself first. A bit last minute one morning, I ran out to see a friend of mine that had already been doing some treatments, so that we could trade and I could see the technique as both patient and practitioner in quick succession. All the classes I took said that you should expect results about 2-4 weeks after a treatment, so I thought I would take my “before” picture a few days after my first session.
What I did NOT expect:
But…my “eleven” lines improved almost immediately after my first session! By the time my skin redness had faded, it was already too late for a before shot! The “before” shot I include above, as I said, does everything wrong - there is no consistency in lighting, face angle or expression BUT please take note, this picture is from 2022- TWO YEARS before my first microneedling. In those two years I also began menopause so the changes to my skin and these elevens were substantial. After one session, my worry lines were effectively time-warped back at least five years - maybe more.

By now I had learned my lesson and took proper before and after photos in my office with consistent lighting and angle.
The difference in the lines around the eyes is after four microneedling sessions. The hyperpigmentation areas do still exist but they are much more incorporated into the facial color overall, much less noticeable.
This patient was completely aglow after her series of sessions, telling me all the compliments she had been receiving, which only added to her glow - yes, this is a cosmetic (“outside”) treatment, but it really brightened her from the inside out!
